
Confirmation preparation begins in 7th grade and ends with reception of the sacrament, usually in the late winter/early spring on a candidate's 8th-grade year. If you are an adult, high school student, or young adult, look for Confirmation details at Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (O.C.I.A.).
The requirements are as follows:
Full registration in the confirmation prep program and payment of fees* (financial assistance available) *fees apply to School of Religion only
Regular attendance at Sunday Mass and the practice of the faith
Regular attendance at religious education received in St. Ann Catholic School or St. Ann School of Religion. There will be makeup work assigned for those who miss class.
Attendance (mandatory) at Confirmation Prep nights and retreats (see important dates). Sponsors are expected but can be represented by proxy or parent. Makeup work is required for any session missed, 8th graders who attended prep nights last year are required to attend this year, even if some of the topics are repeated. A new 2 year cycle of topics is being introduced this year.
Completion of all requirements:
Select a sponsor who is a practicing Catholic and patron saint. Sponsors need not be local - can be represented by proxy or parent. Makeup work will be needed for sessions missed.
Complete 16 service hours (8 per year). 8th graders should enter into the Petition forms hours they completed last year, if any. Forms and upload information added below.
Complete a Saint research paper (7th) and petition letter (8th). 8th graders need not upload their project from the previous year.
Serve as a liturgical minister (reader, greeter, altar serving, or gift bearers) at least 2x at Sunday 5 pm Mass. If you'd like to be scheduled please email Angela Evangelidis [email protected].
